Days 16-17: Lukla

Today’s walk was 12 miles in 9 hours from Namche Bazar to Lukla (9,383 ft).  That includes the one hour that we stopped for lunch. We walked slowly, but that allowed me to take lots of photos.  I enjoyed the walk!  With the scenic high country behind us, the subject of this day’s photos turned to the beautiful people.  The next day we waited around half the day until we could fly back to Kathmandu.

That’s all for this trip. It was a very special. The photos tell the story of the amazing scenery better than words. One friend wrote back, “Just imagine the beauty of the worlds within…. so much greater.”

Day 15 ~ Namche Bazar

Three Passes of Everest: Day 15
It is so much warmer and I feel so much stronger as we descend. We are back in the forest with wild flowers and green trees along the trail. The day started out warm and sunny. After lunch in Thame, clouds rolled in and embraced us.  For the rest of the day we walked in the mist.  It took eight hours from Lundgen (14,371 ft) to Namche Bazar (11,286 ft) with one hour for lunch in the village of Thame.
