The next day was a day of showers. I wore my rain jacket and that was enough to keep me dry since it wasn’t a heavy rain and it wasn’t constant. I was excited to be able to use my camera umbrella for the first time. With the rain and overcast the forest was quite dark.

I was drawn to this old partially hollowed-out redwood and photographed it the previous year. This year, however, the rhododendron in front of it was blooming.

This is the same scene (below) I photographed the previous day. I was drawn to see how it changed in the rain. While taking photos, other hikers wandered in. I like the perspective they add.

This next photo is one of my favorites from the trip. the rhododendron anchors the foreground while a tall redwoods fade into the misty background in somewhat of a row.

I returned to the same trail the following morning. For the following shot, I put on my 100-400mm zoom lens. I was struck by the glowing leaves of this young rhododendron sapling.
