The redwoods are magnificent, but just as magnificent is the understory of the forest. I am happy to capture small pieces of this environment: the sword ferns, rhododendrons, moss covered trees, or parts of fallen giants.

I had an awesome several days. The photos that follow are from my first day, with fog blowing in and out. The sun never broke through so there were no sun beams …yet. Unlike the previous year’s visit, the rhododendrons were blooming.
This is a location I returned to several times, with the rhododendrons blooming high on the hillside.
