Colorado Autumn

Here are the rest of my photos from early October in Colorado.

In early October a cold storm passed through for a day coating the peaks in snow and creating some moody conditions for photographs. I love taking pictures on the edge of a storm where the light can break though the darkness of the storm. I caught some of my favorite photos of the Sneffels Range as the storm cleared out the morning after.

Rainbow in an Brown Field – This one was taken just before sunset on the day the storm was occurring.
Sneffels Range Panorama Sunrise
Riding the Updraft – Clouds part around Mount Sneffels (14,158 feet). Several large birds appear as specks to the left of the peak.
Transitions- This view shows several stages of transition between autumn and winter.
Autumn Impressions – This one was taken in a different area as the storm approached.

  1. Lawrence,

Another beautiful collection of images.  I appreciate getting your
notices.  I don’t see a way to leave a comment on your site, so I
decided to reply to your email.

I have not congratulated you on you wins at the SD Fair.  All of your
photos were superb.  I hope you made a large print of the Waterscapes image.

    1. Thanks for your comment. It looks like your email landed as a comment on the site.
I was so honored with my winning photos at the fair this year. I haven’t made a large print yet of the one I call “Mountain Revealed.” I think that is the one you are referring to.

      1. Yes, now that I look carefully I see a giant blue icon that says “Comment”, and a note that says you can comment by replying to the email. Pretty obvious. Don’t know how I missed it.

Regardless, all the images you publish are superb. Keep sending me more notices about new ones.

  2. Very nice!!! I am drawn to storm shots too and you have some great examples here. I was at the location of your first shot last night. It was a nice pink sunset so I hope I got a good shot … it happened so quick! I can’t figure out the panorama as I don’t recognize that small spire in the middle. (?) The contrast in ‘Transitions’ is perfect and the composition in the last, as good as they come!
